My Journey as Shiftycatz: A Gamer's Story

How It All Began

Gaming has been part of my life for over 30 years. My first encounter with games was playing Super Mario Bros. on the original NES around 1990. Something about the adventure and challenge hooked me, and I’ve never looked back since.

The Origin of Shiftycatz

Many think my gamer tag comes from SSGT Darrell C. "Shifty" Powers from Band of Brothers, but that’s not the case. I picked "Shifty" back in 1996, long before I'd even heard of the series. Someone once mentioned I was looking at them "shifty-like," and I thought it sounded cool—thus, Shiftycatz was born.

A Love for FPS and More

FPS games are my bread and butter. I dabble in RPGs and survival games, but I always return to shooters. The Call of Duty series stands out as my favorite. World of Warcraft also holds a special place in my heart because of the incredible people I met, though I no longer play. For survival thrills, Subnautica ranks high on my list.

Milestones and Memories

I’ve played hundreds of games—over 500 on Steam alone, plus many more across Ubi, EA, Epic, and even an older Steam account. A personal highlight was reaching a world ranking of 638 in Command & Conquer: Tiberian Sun. It felt like a lucky break, but it’s still a proud memory.

Not all gaming moments have been pleasant, though. The infamous airport mission from Modern Warfare 2 left a lasting impact, making me more selective about the types of stories I experience through games.

Why I Stream

Streaming is my way of connecting with others. I’m not chasing fame but rather hoping to build a small, welcoming community where people can hang out, chat, and share a few laughs.

Looking Ahead

In the next five years, I hope to be streaming regularly with a solid, supportive viewer base. A bit of extra income wouldn’t hurt either—but it’s the connections and shared experiences that matter most.

Gaming has been my constant through life's ups and downs—a source of joy, escape, and friendship. Here's to many more years of gaming adventures.
